Italian Museum of Cast Iron

Italian Museum of Cast Iron

Not many people are familiar with cast iron and how it was used between the 19th and 20th centuries for creating artistic pieces for public lighting and furnishings. The Neri Foundation has been recovering and analysing these pieces for some years now, and in the Municipality of Longiano it manages two exhibitions. In the 18th century former church of Santa Maria delle Lacrime, in Longiano’s Town Centre, is a display of some of the collection’s most important pieces. At the premises on Via Emilia, in the industrial area, it is possible to see a wider range of products, and to see how production was once organised, from graphic design to carving the model and casting. Historical Centre Site Saturday, Sunday and public holidays: 2.30 pm to 6 pm (from October to May) 3.30 pm to 6.30 pm (from June to September); other days by appointment Via Emilia Premises (Ponte Ospedaletto area) 9am–4pm (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) 9am–12 pm (Tuesday and Thursday)
