With this boiling hot weather, we immediately think about summer holidays, imagining to be relaxing on white beaches and to be immersed in fresh and crystal-clear waters. After all, holidays are usually booked with great advance for so many reasons; therefore the desire of finally being at our so-longed-for destination is even bigger. According to the Italian leading website for holiday rentals Casevacanza.it, 23% of Italians have already booked their home for the holidays with a 90 days advance before the departure date. This is because Italian destinations, and the Salento in particular, are more and more sought-after even by foreigners, especially Germans, due to the increasingly high demand from overseas; indeed, the data have registered that one in two Italians preferred to book with great advance their holiday, by widening the early booking phenomenon.

Holiday homes, clearly, try to offer a good alternative to hotels that are often too expensive especially during high season, making tourists that choose this kind of accommodation save a lot of money. For this reason, the most popular destinations are increasing the number of facilities to satisfy the high demand that continues to grow, even though sometimes they are not enough for the great wave of tourists that would like to stay in these heavenly places. By far, the most booked regions for summer 2017 are Apulia, Sardinia and Tuscany and they represent 53% of the bookings. Sicily is more requested than last year too, overcoming the Emilia-Romagna region. The most sought-after destinations according to the website data for the months of June, July and August are Gallipoli and Porto Cesareo in the province of Lecce, followed by the Sardinian municipalities of San Teodoro and Villasimius. Therefore, the Salento in once again one of the most attractive territories according to Italians, with a 30% of tourists that chose the same destination of the previous year. In this case, one of the most loved villages by Italian people for summer holidays is Vieste, in the province of Foggia, which remains between the 15 destinations booked with a 90 days advance. In fact, the “pearl of Gargano”, which stretches on a rocky peninsula thanks to the karst nature of the promontory, fascinates everyone with its trabocchi and its splendid beaches, like the one of San Felice and “del Castello”, south from the populated centre where a 25 m high monolith called Pizzomunno stands out, as the very own symbol of this small town.
