No, it's not a fairy tale (... or at least not just this), but one of the legends that originates between the Sibillini Mountains, the mountainous complex located along the Umbrian-Marchigian Appenine, and in particular in the Grotto of the Sibilla, also called Grotta Of Fairies, near the summit of Mount Sibilla.
The name of this mountainous relief derives from the legend of the Appennine Sibyl, according to which the hidden cave in the mountains of the Umbrian-Marchine appennine was nothing else than the point of access to the underworld of Queen Sibilla, an old priestess able To predict the future.
This figure originates in the primitive cults of the ancient Italian populations that settled in the Umbrian-Piceno territory; and his oracles were pronounced in impoverished places such as the mountains, caves and cavities of Mother Earth. According to the original version of the legend, the Appennine Sibyl was a good fairy, seer, and enchanting, possessing knowledge, aesthetic of astronomy and medicine, who gave prophetic responsibilities with a language not always easy to interpret.
